The "bloom" stage allows for a small bit of water to briefly saturate the grounds, which allows for the release of carbon dioxide before the extraction process starts. This results in better flavor extraction and a more nuanced cup.

Bomber Materials, Iconic Style
If it feels like metal, it is. Our machines are crafted with cast metal frames, borosilicate glass lines, and hand-finished (on the Eight) hardwood trims. These materials won’t quit.
(A Lot) Less Plastic
We use minimal amounts of food-grade, BPA-free copolymers in our machines, and that’s only to ensure there are no leak points in the brewer.
Serviced in the USA
In the rare event something goes wrong with a Ratio, you shouldn’t have to wait weeks for an overseas repair. We fix or replace machines right here in our Portland, OR headquarters.
