FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Where is the Eight Original made?
Each Eight Original is designed and hand-assembled in Portland, Oregon, using globally sourced components. It features a solid machined aluminum body and hardwood accents.
- What materials make up the brew path?
Once water leaves the Tritan tank, it flows through stainless steel, aluminum, borosilicate glass, and either ceramic or glass—depending on the dripper or carafe you choose.
- What carafe options are available?
The Eight Original pairs with either a glass carafe or a stainless steel thermal carafe.
- How much coffee does it brew?
A full brew is 40 ounces (1.25 liters), suitable for several servings. Smaller brews also work beautifully.
- What filters can I use?
Chemex paper filters or the Able Kone stainless reusable filter both work with the Eight Original’s conical dripper.
- Does it have a hot plate that keeps coffee hot after brewing?
Ratio machines don’t use a hot plate. Hot plates tend to overheat coffee, causing bitterness and a burnt flavor over time. Instead, our brewers have the option to be paired with a double-wall stainless steel thermal carafe that keeps coffee hot long enough to enjoy a full pot without altering the taste. If you prefer a glass carafe, we recommend serving right away or transferring your brew to an insulated vessel for the best flavor and temperature.
