We revel in coffee in all its expressions, but our product lines were inspired by that simple, smooth, sweet cup of filtered coffee — via a pour-over.
Why Pour Over?
The "bloom" stage allows for a small bit of water to briefly saturate the grounds, which allows for the release of carbon dioxide before the extraction process starts. This results in better flavor extraction and a more nuanced cup.
Agitation during pour-over brewing ensures optimal interaction between water and coffee grounds. Controlled agitation releases essential oils and soluble compounds, balancing acidity, sweetness, and bitterness in the final cup.
The slow flow rate in pour-over coffee captures subtle flavors often missed in quicker methods. This deliberate pace extracts a layered and complex flavor profile, fully showcasing the coffee bean's potential.

The People Are Talking
"In taste tests, this flat-bottom brewer was able to produce the most full-flavored coffee without any bitter or off notes that can come from over-extraction... The Ratio Six brewed, hands down, the best coffee of all the machines we tested."
(A Lot) Less Plastic
For Ratio, we're determined to use as little plastic as possible. There are only five pieces of plastic in the Ratio, used to ensure there are no leak points in the brewer, and they are made of food grade, BPA-free copolymers.
Heavy Duty Materials
If it feels like metal, it is metal. Ratios are built with cast metal frames, borosilicate glass lines, and (on the Eight) hand-laquered hardwood trims. It's about standards.
Serviced in the USA
We designed and built the Ratio to be fully serviceable and easy to repair. In the rare event that a Ratio does experience an issue, we'll fix it or replace it in a timely manner, right here in our Portland, OR headquarters.
"The beauty of this machine...comes both from the handcrafted materials it is made with as well as the flavor profiles it exposes in your beans. The flavors listed on coffee bags that used to escape me (cherry, vanilla, tobacco) are suddenly vivid."
SCA Gold Cup certified.
The Ratio Six has been awarded Gold Cup Certification by the Specialty Coffee Association. It’s basically the Grammy Awards for Coffee Makers.
"In a crowded and competitive market, the SCA Certified Home Brewer mark helps consumers find and choose the best coffee makers, backed by the science and experience of the Specialty Coffee Association."
