Ratio is smarter than your average coffee maker. Beneath the exterior is precise brewing science, automated. Ratio is equipped with a powerful heating element. Where lesser machines struggle to maintain the optimum temperature – brewing either too hot or too cold – Ratio delivers water at or near the optimum temperature of 200 degrees.

Gathering feedback from champion baristas and our customer base, we have developed a machine that emulates a manual pour-over, fine-tuned to provide a sweet cup that lacks bitterness.

Hot water poured over fresh roasted coffee causes a bubbly interaction called a “bloom.” The control board of Ratio applies a bloom cycle that allows the bloom to settle down before delivering the rest of the hot water. The result? More evenly extracted grounds and a more amazing cup of coffee.

Been using my immersion coffee maker so far this year. I like it but this Ratio really simplifies the brewing. The Thermal Set is great! I pre-heat the dripper and carafe then get the deep, rich, full flavor from my fresh ground beans. Different beans take different grinds to get them right. Stays hot for a couple hours. Rarely when some is left over I make coffee-milk with fresh milk (got to stir the solids sometimes) from the creamery here.

The Ratio 8 Thermal Set bundle is a terrific pour-over package and a terrific value. Everything — grinder, scale, filter, coffee maker (and canister) — works flawlessly and results in an exceptional cup of coffee, with the added benefit of a beautiful design. I have one small quibble: the thermal carafe is just not easy to pour from, esp with the lid on, so immediately after brewing, I empty it into an old thermal carafe I’ve used for years, which keeps the coffee piping hot and is easy to pour. This is by no means a deal breaker, as the solution is simple, but perhaps a redesign is in order (?). At any rate I’m tickled pink to be kicking off the New Year with this unit!

This is an excellent quality machine and every part reflects that. Unfortunately, my husband is an avid V60 pour over loyalist because he prefers a deep, less filtered taste, and after trying the machine with different filters (even using a V60 pour over topper, etc.), he couldn’t replicate the taste he wanted, so we returned the machine. If I had understood that about the machine, I wouldn’t have bought it, but if you love Chemex, this is the machine for you. The 30 day return policy was solid.

Blown away by the quality of the “pour over” this coffee maker creates. I’ve been a hard core hand only coffee maker for more than 20 years (still hand grind beans). This does as good as I’ve ever done. Completely worth the price. The overall quality of the components is outstanding and the insulated carafe also keeps the coffee very hot. Finally, we are design snobs but are happy with this is on the countertop. It’s stunning.

I have loved coffee my entire life. I own a manual paddle GS3 and a Technivorm drip coffee machine. The danish tech has performed well for 15 years but with the new house remodel I wanted to try something with a cleaner design. The Ratio 8 looks better and makes better coffee. I think it’s the best family sized drip/pour over coffee machine on the planet. Buy one, you won’t regret it.

I bought this because I want to minimize how much plastic exposure I have. It serves that purpose well as I think everything but the reservoir is glass, metal, or ceramic. Very nice, heavy, and sleek, but also very expensive. The two cons would be: the reservoir doesn’t quite fully empty, leaving a tiny bit of water permanently in the tank, and the cap on the insulated carafe makes for a messy, slow pour. picky, sure, but at this price point, those things are a bit frustrating. Otherwise, I really like it!

I love my Ratio 8 with thermal carafe. I can feel healthy brewing coffee without any plastics or paper filters. Every detail is addressed in design, including a ceramic ‘coaster’ for the ceramic basket. The product itself is a unique and pretty appliance to set out and the coffee is delicious.

This is an excellent coffee maker. I’ve bought many since it first appeared. On the downside, they do not continue to work flawlessly. When I’ve had problems, I’ve learned that your customer service is hopeless. I finally replaced my former Ratio when I was told that to fix my damaged one would take three or four MONTHS!! Surely you can do better.

So far we are very happy with The Ratio Eight. One thing that bothers a bit is the pouring of the coffee when the rubber lid is on. Since there is no escape hole for the air, it is an awkward, slow pour. Nor sure if there is a fix, since the desire is to keep the coffee as warm as long as possible.
