Coffee mugs are such a common object in the home and office that it's sometimes easy to forget what makes a mug special. There is the obvious utility of a coffee mug in that it holds hot coffee, but there are so many other little details that make a mug more than a holder of coffee. Mary Carroll Ceramics here in Portland, Oregon has a gift for craftsmanship in ceramics, and we're thrilled to announce our collaboration.

We love the feel of the handle and smooth yet very organic glaze. The two simple lines on the bottom of the mug reveal the texture of unglazed earthenware. These lines were chosen to reflect the linear quality of Ratio coffee machines that is juxtaposed against curves and angles.
